For those that do not have a spare intermediate shaft to cut down, this tool (6227-2) can be used to align the planetary and sprag while assembling the overdrive section in a 46RH, 46RE, 47RH, 47RE or 48RE Dodge automatic transmission. Unlike an intermediate shaft, the splines at the tip of this tool are tapered/thinned to help self-align on insertion. Color may vary. The steel alignment tool shown here is for visual comparison only, it is not included.
